The 6th Global Travel & Tourism Summit will take place in Washington DC on 10-12 April 2006 at the Washington Convention Center

More than 600 leaders from the Travel & Tourism industry, governments and the international media, representing 60 countries worldwide, gathered at the 5th Global Travel & Tourism Summit in New Delhi, April 2005. Under the theme 'Realizing the Potential' and using WTTC's 'in the round' format, once again the Global Summit provided a platform for genuine dialogue and encouraged leaders of the industry to express their opinions candidly.

With keynote speeches from industry leaders such as Dr Michael Frenzel, Chairman,TUI AG; Marylin Carlson Nelson, Chairman & CEO, Carlson Companies; Barry Sternlicht, Executive Chairman, Starwood Hotels & Resorts ;JW Marriott Jr, Chairman & CEO, Marriot International and Roger Bootle, Managing Director, Capital Economics; and lead contributions from over 70 industry, government and media representatives the lively debates covered the whole range of topics which are affecting and enhancing Travel & Tourism's ability to realize its potential.

New Delhi was a fitting host to the event as India is one of the countries where Travel & Tourism has the most potential to fulfill. Inbound, outbound and domestic travel are all growing rapidly and India, with its huge labour force, diverse cultural and ecological attractions, and growing economy has much to gain from a thriving Travel & Tourism industry.

WTTC will publish a full report of the Summit later this year. In the meantime please click here for photos, presentations and quotes from the proceedings.

I am delighted that the 6th Global Travel & Tourism Summit will take place in Washington DC, USA, April 10 - 12 2006 and further details will be available shortly.
