Edouard Ettedgui
Group Chief Executive, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group
Edouard Ettedgui joined Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group as Chief
Executive in 1998.
Under his leadership, the Group's portfolio increased from 11 to
26 hotels and resorts worldwide with approximately 8,000 rooms in
key destinations, thereby moving closer to the Group's vision of
becoming a truly global player in the luxury hotel industry.
A French national, Mr Ettedgui obtained his MBA degree from ESSEC
in Paris before beginning his professional career with Philips International
in the Netherlands. During his 13 years with Philips, he held posts
in Morocco and France, and became Director for Philips' operations
in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Peru and Italy.
In 1990, he joined BAT Industries PLC in London as Head of Finance
and in 1995; he became Business Development Director and was subsequently
appointed to the Board of the newly created British American Tobacco
Holdings.
In 1996, Mr Ettedgui moved to Asia as Group Finance Director of
Dairy Farm International Holdings Limited, where he remained until
joining Mandarin Oriental.
Mr Ettedgui is a member of the World Travel & Tourism Council's
(WTTC) Executive Committee and also an Advisor for External Trade
in Hong Kong to the French Government.
