Tim Clement-Jones CBE is the founder and Chairman of Upstream, the Government and Media Relations practice in Europe and Asia of DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary.
Tim was made a life peer in 1998. He was for six years the Liberal Democrat's Health spokesman in the House of Lords and is now their spokesman for Culture Media and Sport, which includes the tourism brief. Tim was Chairman of the Liberal Party from 1986 to 1988 and played a major part in the merger negotiations with the Social Democratic Party to form the Liberal Democrats.
A communications professional and a solicitor, Tim was Group Company Secretary and Legal Adviser of Kingfisher Plc the international retailing group from 1986 until 1995. Before Kingfisher Tim held senior legal positions at Grand Metropolitan and London Weekend Television
He is a Trustee of CancerBACUP, the UK cancer information charity founded by his late first wife Dr Vicky Clement-Jones FRCP. He is also Chairman of the Trustees of Treehouse, a school and education charity for children with autism.
Tim was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge and graduated in law and economics. He is married to Jean, who was until recently a financial counselor in the voluntary sector, and is father to Harry, aged seven.
