Manvinder Puri
General Manager, The Setai; Vice President, The Americas, GHM Hotels,
The Setai, South Beach
For over 30 years Manvinder Puri has been associated with the finest
hotels around the world- including the Peninsula Hotels in Hong
Kong, Raffles Hotel in Singapore, The Fullerton Hotel in Singapore,
Rosewood Hotels and Resorts, British Airways, The Ritz Carlton in
Hawaii, Halekulani in Honolulu, Fairmont Hotel in Chicago, and La
Mansion in San Antonio.
In February of 2004 Puri joined GHM Hotels to bring the GHM experience
to the Americas, beginning in Miami Beach, Florida with the much
anticipated Setai, South Beach. As General Manager Puri leads the
opening as well as the day to day operations of The Setai; and as
Vice President, of the Americas, Puri heads additional development
of GHM Hotels in the Americas.
Puri studied Food & Beverage Management and Financial Management
at Cornell University, as well as Business Management at Punjab
University in his native home of India.
Puri has spent the majority of his career in Food & Beverage,
and has initiated many exciting and new concepts including the Raffles
Culinary Academy, Doc Cheng's Restaurant for Restorative foods-hailed
as one of the 10 Great Hotel Restaurants in the World for 1997,
and the Annual Raffles Hotel Wine & Food Experience.
Puri keeps actively involved in affiliations such as the Confrerie
De La Chaine Des Rotisseurs, Confrerie De Chevalier Du Tastevin,
Commanderie De Bordeaux, American Institute of Wine and Food, Global
Hoteliers Club, International Wine and Food Society, and The International
Food & Beverage Forum.
Puri has earned accolades such as Wine & Dine's First Ever Man
of The Year 1997, A Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2002 World
Gourmet Summit, and most recently received the 2004 FTA Hospitality
Award for Excellence, for Hotel Operator.
It is Puri's relentless pursuit for excellence that drives him and
his affiliations to new heights.
